Toulhars beach: a 10-minute walk away

Toulhars beach is one of the two beaches closest to Villa Keramzec, a 10-minute walk away, like the town centre of Larmor-Plage. It also gave its name to the house's Toulhars suite. It is a good spot for an early-evening swim followed by the sunset.

Nourriguel beach: the other beach within walking distance

Also a 10-minute walk from the villa, Nourriguel beach makes a change from Toulhars without taking the car. Note that swimming is not allowed there: it is a place for walks.

Port Maria beach: a swim and lunch by the water

A 15-minute walk away, Port Maria combines a beach with seafront restaurants. Ideal for lunch after a swim. Kernével harbour, with its bars, restaurants and boat hire, is the same distance away.

Kerguélen beach: the watersports beach

Three minutes away by car, Kerguélen beach is home to the Kerguélen watersports centre: sailing, catamaran, kayaking and diving. This is the beach to choose for introducing children to sailing.

Fort-Bloqué: the surfing beach

How far is Guidel-Plages from Larmor-Plage?

From Villa Keramzec, Guidel-Plages is about 20 minutes by car. You can enjoy the beach and walks along the Laïta, the river that flows into the ocean here. Further along in Guidel, La Falaise beach rounds off the outing, 17 minutes from the villa by car. In summer, bus line 50, the “beach line”, also serves Guidel-Plages.

How can you walk from beach to beach?

The GR34 coastal path, which you can reach directly from the house, runs along the coastline and links one beach to the next. Bring good shoes and water.

Tips for enjoying the beaches as a family

  • Check the tide times: the tide rises and falls a long way on the Atlantic coast, which changes the look of the beaches through the day. Low tide is also the time for rock pooling and shore fishing.
  • Choose lifeguarded beaches with young children: Toulhars, Port Maria, Kerguélen, La Falaise and Fort-Bloqué have lifeguards in July and August, from 1 pm to 7 pm.
  • Think about equipment: the villa provides sun loungers and parasols for the garden; they stay at the villa and cannot be taken to the beach.

What about beaches further afield?

For a day trip:

  • Île de Groix, with the Grands Sables beach, reached by boat from Lorient.
  • Courégant beach, in Ploemeur.
  • Le Pouldu.

Allow about 10 minutes by car to the Lorient ferry terminal and then a 45-minute crossing for Groix, 9 minutes to Courégant and 36 minutes to Le Pouldu. More ideas for days out are in the guide things to do in and around Larmor-Plage.
