Where is Larmor-Plage?

Larmor-Plage is a seaside town in the Morbihan, in south Brittany, next to Lorient and Ploemeur. It sits at the mouth of the Lorient roadstead, facing the Île de Groix. Villa Keramzec is a 10-minute walk from the town centre and 10 minutes by car from Lorient.

Which beaches can you reach from the villa?

Toulhars and Nourriguel beaches are a 10-minute walk away, and Port Maria beach a 15-minute walk. By car, Locqueltas and Kerguélen are 3 minutes away, Fort-Bloqué 15 minutes and Guidel-Plages 20 minutes.

What is there to do at the harbours of Larmor-Plage?

  • Kernével harbour (15 min on foot): waterside bars and restaurants, boat hire.

Can you walk the GR34 from the house?

Yes. The GR34, the old customs officers' path that runs along the Breton coastline, can be reached directly from Villa Keramzec. You can set off on foot along the coast without taking the car.

  • the banks of the Laïta, towards Guidel-Plages;
  • the Clohars-Carnoët forest;

What watersports can you try?

The Kerguélen watersports centre, on the beach of the same name 3 minutes away by car, offers sailing, catamaran, kayaking and diving.

Surfers will find waves at Fort-Bloqué, a lifeguarded beach 15 minutes away by car. At Kernével harbour, you can hire a boat.

What is there to see in Lorient, 10 minutes away?

  • The Cité de la Voile Éric Tabarly, at La Base, a museum devoted to ocean racing and sailing.
  • The submarine base, where you can visit the Flore submarine.
  • The Merville covered market in Lorient (temporary market hall during renovation): Tuesday to Sunday, 7.30 am to 1 pm, with a small open-air market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

How do you get to the Île de Groix?

The Île de Groix is reached by boat from the Lorient ferry terminal, a crossing of about 45 minutes with BreizhGo Océane. You arrive at Port Tudy. The island is best explored on foot or by bike, and is home to the Grands Sables beach.

  • Rock pooling and shore fishing at low tide, following local regulations and tide times.
